Five Tips to Enjoy the 58th Annual Ann Arbor Street Art Fair

Ann Arbor’s 58th Annual Street Art Fair is almost here! As residents at 618 South Main, the Art Fair is practically in your backyard. Running from July 20-23, you can’t escape it, so here are five tips to enjoy one of the largest outdoor art fairs in the nation:

1. Prepare for the heat (and maybe a storm or two)
Without fail, the four days of the Art Fair are the hottest days of the summer, and there may be a rain storm in the mix as well, so prep for the weather by looking at the forecast and dressing accordingly. As always in Michigan, you never know what the weather will do next.

2. Don't try to experience it in one day
The Art Fair spans from S. Main Street to Church Street and is one of the largest in the country. From street performers to live music to life-size sculptures, there's too much to see in one day. We suggest planning at least two days to see it all.

3. Be prepared to walk or take the shuttle
The Art-Go-Round is a free shuttle that takes you all around the art fair. It stops on E. William St., just a short walk from 618 South Main. Even if you take the shuttle, comfortable walking shoes are essential as you’ll likely be walking several blocks between stops.

4. Plan restroom breaks
Port a Johns are available on streets including E. William, E. Jefferson, E. Washington, and more. However, keep in mind it may be several blocks before you get to the next bathroom.

5. Avoid the crowds
People travel from all over the world to attend the fair, so it can get crowded. In fact, it can get so crowded it’s hard to even see the art. If you’re not a fan of crowds, we suggest going in the morning or late evening. The Art Fair’s hours are Thursday – Sunday from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

The Ann Arbor Street Art Fair is Ann Arbor’s biggest fair of the year, and it’s a can’t-miss event! Enjoy the amazing and creative artwork presented and have fun in the local community.
